It has now been a year and a half since the creation of Keystone Collection – a new and ambitious hotel chain offering refined properties in Old Riga. The pride of the group, Konventa Sēta Hotel, is located in the very heart of the historic centre and offers guests impeccable quality and comfort. By the end of this year, a second property under the Keystone Collection brand is set to open in Old Riga – the high-end Carillon Aparthotel.
Keystone Management* Chairman of the Board Jānis Vilisons and Board Member Normunds Ozoliņš share insights into how the first year of operations unfolded and what plans lie ahead.
The renovation of the buildings that house Konventa Sēta Hotel was completed in August 2023. It took place in three stages and lasted six years in total.
As Jānis explains: “After completing the renovation, we wanted to ensure that the service level at our hotel matched our own vision of four-star hotel’s quality. The first year was dedicated to implementing quality standards and shaping the hotel’s image. Today, we’re already seeing the results: our rating on Booking.com has reached 9.1, the hotel has been awarded the Tripadvisor Traveller’s Choice title, and in April this year, we received the prestigious Superior 4* status. To earn this recognition, we had to meet particularly high standards in sustainability and pay attention to the smallest of details.”
Currently, the hotel complex consists of six historic buildings housing 161 high-quality rooms, as well as elegant and functional conference rooms fully equipped for modern events.
2024 has been an especially active year for Konventa Sēta Hotel – over the past year, the hotel welcomed 56 206 guests from around the world. Some visit to enjoy Riga’s charm and leisure opportunities, while others come for business, such as attending seminars in the hotel’s conference facilities.
As Normunds notes: “Most of our guests come from Germany, the United Kingdom, and Scandinavia, but we also welcome travellers from further afield, including the USA, China, and New Zealand. Locals, too, often choose Konventa Sēta Hotel for holidays or business trips. We are proud to successfully compete with major international hotel chains by offering a unique experience in a historical setting. Guest reviews confirm this – they value not only the hotel’s design and atmosphere, but also the professionalism and attitude of the staff. We’re truly grateful to the entire team for that.”
A natural next step in the hotel group’s development is the launch of a new property – Carillon Aparthotel, which will offer 61 premium-class apartments. Bookings are now open, and we look forward to welcoming our first guests from 1 December 2025.
Jānis explains: “The aparthotel market in Riga is developing rapidly. It grew significantly during the pandemic when people began favouring individual accommodation options. The demand for spacious and cosy apartments suited for families and longer stays continues to rise. This is especially relevant for business travellers who need to remain in Riga for weeks or even months. Carillon Aparthotel is designed precisely for this: fully equipped apartments in the very heart of Old Riga.”
“When developing the Keystone Collection brand, our goal was to create hotels where every guest feels valued and special. By transforming Konventa Sēta Hotel, we’ve proven our ability to deliver on our goals. The opening of Carillon Aparthotel will be the next step in the growth of the Keystone Collection hotel chain,” Jānis concludes.
